Ellaura on Moreton is located on the southern end of Moreton Island a stone's throw from the soft sandy beaches and calm waters of Moreton Bay.
Take a short walk to find the famous 'Gutter Bar', local shop, taste some fresh Moreton Island oysters, see many native birds or take a drink at Campbells beach to watch the sunset over Moreton Bay and Brisbane City. Take a day trip sand boarding or drive to the vast open surf side beach where the crystal clear blue waters are abundant in marine life of all kinds.
Camping at Ellaura is on the grassed lot and includes use of the open campfire pit at the rear of the lot, free BBQ and wood fired pizza oven and daily shower when available.
Moreton Island is a remote National Park and only accessible by boat, vehicular ferry or 4WD. The Amity Trader ferry runs directly to Kooringal from Victoria Point. Bookings and timetable at amitytrader.com. All townships and roads/tracks on Moreton are sand. No mains power. The entire Island is solar or generator power only.

No other fires are permitted. You must be fully self-sufficient to camp at Ellaura, there are little services available at the camp. Public toilet and wash basin nearby at Dal Pope Reserve. No toilet supply or dumping area onsite.
You will be camping anywhere you'd like to on the grassed lot next to the main house lot. It is fully grassed with a largefire pit at the rear of the lot. Large trees provide shade from the afternoon sun, and welcome a wide array of birdlife in the mornings. Limited facilities at camp. There is a public toilet and wash basin around the corner at Dal Pope Reserve (you would've passed this on your way in). Fishing and swimming are a short walk from Ellaura in the waters surrounding Kooringal.
*No fires permitted except in the provided camp fire pit at the rear of grassed camping lot.
*Rubbish is to be disposed of thoughtfully at the Kooringal dump/refuse site, follow the signs past the Emergency Centre and Heli-pad.
*No digging holes for any reasons.
*No entry into any of the buildings.
*Loud music is to be turned down to a reasonable volume after 9pm.
*Please respect the Island rules - refer to National Parks, ie. no pets (guide dogs allowed).
*Please obtain an Island map from QPWS and familiarize yourself with the island, it is a big place with a lot to see and do.
And although Moreton is a remote island with no bitumen roads, all road rules do still apply, please observe speed limits, slow down when approaching people on the beach and when driving through townships.
*Ellaura on Moreton and it's hosts hold no responsibility for any injuries, incidents, accidents or deaths that may occur while staying at Ellaura on Moreton.
*You are camping at your own risk.
*There is dangerous wildlife on the island as with any National Park.
*Ellaura is not fenced and it is a close walk to waters of Moreton Bay.
*There is a fully equipped emergency centre, heli-pad and air-strip in Kooringal for medical or trauma emergencies. Call 000 and state your location, a first responder based at Kooringal will arrive immediately to assist until an ambulance arrives if necessary.
*There is an emergency phone located on the exterior wall of the emergency centre that goes straight to emergency services for them to direct your call accordingly. There is limited mobile reception on the island when inland. The emergency phone works anytime regardless - fines do apply for misuse.
